Abstract: The distribution of radial (U) and rotational (V) velocities of red clump giants was studied as a function of their heights above galactic plane. The stars of this type were selected from the compiled catalogue of stellar proper motions and infrared photometry at the north galactic pole with the use of the diagram “colour — reduced proper motion”. Based on the data on 1800 red clump giants located at heights from 1 to 3 kpk (mostly thick disk stars) mean kinematic parameters of the thick disk were determined: U0= -18 ± 2 km/s, V0 = -56 ± 1 km/s, σU = 72 ± 2 km/s, σV = 58 ± 1 km/s. It is shown that velocity of asymmetric drift V0 and velocity dispersions σU, σV depend on heights above the galactic plane. |
